The Company C. Rokas SA, was founded in
1958 by Mr. Christos Rokas, having as main scope of business
the construction and installation of lifting and handling
equipment, as well as heavy machinery and steel structures. In
1977, following its conversion into a SA, the Company built
its new modern production unit in the Industrial Zone of
Tripolis and started specializing in more complex steel
structures, supplying equipment to major commercial ports,
shipyards and heavy industries in Greece and abroad.
In 1990, the Company was listed in the Athens Stock Exchange
(ASE). During the period 1991-1992, the Company constructed
the first wind farms in Greece for the Public Power
Corporation (PPC).
In 1998, the Company constructed the first private wind farm
in Greece, with a capacity of 10.2 MW in Sitia, Crete, paving
the way for the development of Renewable Energy Sources in the
country. Rokas was awarded the “Best investment of the year”
award by the Center for Renewable Energy Sources.
In 2000, as a confirmation of the importance placed by the
Company on the quality of its products, it was certified as
per international standards ISO 9001/1994 and in 2003 as per
ISO 9001/2000.
In 2004, Rokas becomes a member of the Iberdrola Group, a
world leader in renewable energy sources, with considerable
international presence in over 30 countries.
Today, the Company holds a leading position in both sectors of
its activity, Renewable Energy Sources and electromechanical
equipment. Especially in Wind Energy, Rokas has a considerable
market share with its total installed capacity of 200.3 MW.
