Through its co-operation with many entities
(companies, university and other institutions), ROKAS
researches new RES technologies. The results of this research
are of utmost importance considering Greek standards.
1999
Development of wind farm tele-control software from the PPC
Centre of Load Distribution (CLD) in Crete.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, AMBER SA, ΚΚ Electronic
A/S
This software is the principal one used by (CLD).
Development of software for handling any visual/sound
disturbances in wind farms.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, National Technical
University of Athens (NTUA).
2000
Development of software based on the 3-D Navier-Stokes
connecting code, for the solution of the airflow field in
complex terrain.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, National Technical
University of Athens (NTUA)
Development of MCP software for the determination of long-term
wind characteristics in complex terrain.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, National Technical
University of Athens (NTUA), Center of Renewable Energy
Sources (CRES).
Al software developed in collaboration with the NTUA has
already been certified in operating wind farms.
2001
Installation of an experimental electric energy producing
photovoltaic plant 171,36 KW in Sitia, Crete. The photovoltaic
plant consists of 1428 photovoltaic modules SOLAREX MSX-120.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, DISIOS SA, Ministry of
Development.
Participation, in collaboration with CRES, in a research
program for the design and construction of two systems
combining the operation of wind turbines and hydrogen cells.
(Storage of electric energy / production of hydrogen)
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, CRES and foreign
entities.
2002
Installation of experimental aerodynamic arrangements (dinotails
& trimstalls) on wind turbine blades (Antia wind farms), for
the improvement of the capacity factor in complex terrain.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, BONUS energy A/S, LM
Glassfiber A/S
Construction of an on site workshop for the repair of wind
turbine blades at the Skopies wind farm in Zarakes, Evia.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, LM Glassfiber A/S
2003
Experimental installation on the Leros wind farm, of the
InmarSat BGAN arrangement, satellite data transmission system
in Denmark.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, BONUS energy A/S, KK
Electronic A/S
2004
Research on the development of software for the short term
wind energy forecasting in complex terrain.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, Inflow O.E.
Study for the radio conversion of the all wind farms
telecommunication system, with the development of microwave on
site transmitters-receivers for the attainment of data
transmission at high speed (128Kbps) both within and out of
the wind farm area.
Collaborating entities: C. ROKAS SA, OTE – Department of
Development & Planning, LANNET S.A.
2005
In November 2005, the first pilot plant hydrogen
producing hydrogen from wind energy was inaugurated in Greece
within the framework of a research project of the European
Union. From the Greek side, the Company participated in the
design and realization of the project in association with the
Center for Renewable Energy Sources.
The aim of the project is to design, install and study two
systems that will combine wind energy with hydrogen
technologies under real conditions. One of these systems will
be installed in Spain (Canary Islands) and the second one has
already been installed and operating since November 2005 in
Greece, in the wind farm of the Center for Renewable Energy
Sources (CRES) in Lavrion. CRES, which co-ordinates the
activities in the Greek testing field in cooperation with C.
Rokas SA and a Cypriot entity, has designed, installed and now
is studying the operation of a production, condensation and
bottling system for hydrogen under variable power conditions.
